Importance Of A Thorough Dental Evaluation
We are passionate about our patients receiving routine dental care in our office. Routine dental care is important because we look for issues that can lead to a dental problem or emergency as well as oral complications that can eventually affect your overall health.
What to Expect During Your Visit
We do more than just dental cleanings and filling cavities. When you visit our office for a routine oral hygiene examination and cleaning, we are looking for any and all problems with your oral health. Aside from a visual inspection, we will do a full set of X-rays to see deep into the bones and soft tissues inside the jaw. Not only can we see immediate problems, but we are also able to monitor the areas for potential problems that may develop in the future. During the visual inspection, aside from checking your teeth, we will be looking closely at your lips, cheeks, tongue, and lymph nodes. This is an inspection for oral cancer.
Share Your Medical History
It is extremely important to provide our office with all of your medical history. We are interested in learning more about your oral and overall health. This includes any and all dental health treatments or complications. For your overall health, we need to be aware of any previous or current medical conditions as well as any surgery or treatments you may have received. We are also interested in knowing if you are a smoker and how much alcohol you drink on a regular basis. Be sure to include any medications you take. List all prescription and over-the-counter medications and vitamins you take. Certain medical conditions or medications may affect how we can treat your oral health. It also makes us aware of different problems we may see with your oral health.
If we notice any problem with your oral health, we will recommend a dental treatment to eliminate it. We recommend scheduling your visit as soon as possible to prevent the problem from progressing further.
